To all the Vienna peeps who want to leave the city after work or on the weekend and enjoy the coloured vineyards in Autumn: The Greisslerei in Schuetzen is just a 40-min drive away and helps you escape the city jungle and your busy work life.
The Greisslerei belongs to the two-Michelin-star Taubenkobel restaurant. The concept is a restaurant with a small menu combined with a boutique/delicatessen. Don’t worry, even though the Greisslerei is part of such a premium restaurant, the prices are average and you will get good value for your money. My favourite dishes are the classic Schnitzel (a traditional Austrian dish) or the steaks (I love the fries and the sauce!!!).
Most of the time, I am not hungry at all anymore after that but I cannot resist their poppy seed cake with whipped cream. It is a must and really to die for! The chocolate cake is amazing as well.
From May until September I love to sit outside: in their garden on this tiny little street in the Austrian countryside in between flower beds and swings . When it gets cooler, you will feel really comfy inside. If you are looking for nice presents for your friends, you will be successful at the Greisslerei: I love their jewellery and home decor. Also, it is a great place to shop for regional food stuff.
The crowd is international (their website only in German though…) and the service is very friendly. As for Ivana, who is extremely courteous and will always brighten up your day with her happy smile.
